If you're looking to step back in time and discover the magic of wet plate photography, then this immersive workshop is perfect for you. Led by Robert Cooper, an experienced wet plate photographer from Savannah, you'll learn the art and craft of this historic photographic process and create stunning images using vintage equipment and techniques right here on beautiful Daufuskie Island. Our workshop covers everything from preparing your own plates to exposing and developing your images. You'll gain a deeper understanding of the chemistry and physics behind the process and learn how to troubleshoot common issues. Our small class size ensures personalized instruction and plenty of hands-on practice. Join us for a unique and unforgettable experience that will transport you to the golden age of photography.

Vacationing on beautiful Daufuskie Island? Live on Daufuskie but don’t have time to attend three sessions in a row? Just wanna bring your phone and get a much better idea about improving your daily Instashots? This workshop is for you. In three hours, we’ll cover all of the above, including a general understanding of cameras and lenses. We will not shoot assignments but look at the work of other photographers for inspiration and guidance. Please bring some of your favorite images to the class. And yes, gear advice!

Full image review of the assignments and fine-tuning of your work.

ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture. What does what, why do I need this? Can’t I just shoot in auto mode or with my phone? Spoiler alert: no and yes. Assignments to shoot for session three.

1. session one:

Understanding your cameras and lenses. What happens if I push this button, what will happen if I use this lens. Bring your own camera, put it in manual and let the magic happen. Please bring ten of your favorite images you shot to the first class.
